Led by Imani Garden volunteers, you will work with them to process food scraps by chopping them and mixing them with browns and adding them to their active bin. They cheerfully greet food scrap customers, invite them into the Garden, invite them to participate in the process to the extent they are comfortable, and explain their processes and goals.
Volunteers will be able to work with customers, as well as turning our bins using shovels and compost cranks, sifting finished compost before it goes to curing bins at an adjacent lot. They encourage questions and are glad to discuss any aspect of the operation and consider alternative approaches. Additional activities include preparing browns and recording bin temperatures. At the end of the shift, tools are cleaned, dried and returned to their places.
