Come out to Governors Island for an afternoon of device maintenance for backyard composting systems! We will spend a few hours maintaining a variety of backyard devices: 3 bin systems, pickle barrel tumbler, vermicompost systems, & more depending on time. Compost education will be worked into our afternoon of blending, mixing, turning, & maintaining.

Dress warm, it’s always a few degrees cooler on the island. Bring any food scraps you’d like to feed to the chickens or put into our compost piles. Lastly, please bring any bag/container to fill up on compost to bring home if you’d like!

Participants need to be on the 1:00pm Ferry from Manhattan and can depart on the 4:30pm ferry from Governors Island. Masks are optional.
