Join the NYC Compost Project Hosted by Big Reuse to volunteer at our large-scale urban composting site in Queensbridge. Volunteers will help break up leaf bags, rake and tidy the site, collect trash, clean bins, and other fun jobs.
Volunteers should wear close toed shoes, clothes they don't mind getting dirty, and dress for the weather. Some physical activities required (lifting up to 40 lbs bags of compost bags, bending). Bring a water bottle (refills available). Event is rain or shine but you will be notified by email if there is a cancellation.
Take the F train to 21st Street - Queensbridge. Exit the train and walk South on 21st street, under the highway, to Queens Plaza South. Take a right, and walk West 4 blocks to Vernon Ave. The entrance to the composting area is at the corner of Queens Plaza South and Vernon Ave., directly under the bridge and across from the Ravel hotel.
Please make sure to wear a mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
