Battery Park City is turning dog waste into compost! Learn about how Battery Park City Authority is diverting dog waste from landfills to create nutrient-rich compost that's applied back to soils in a safe and environmentally responsible way. Not only that-- it also minimizes the amount of methane gas released into the atmosphere and reduces the number of plastic bags used to pick up pet waste. We'll also take a tour of their indoor food waste composter and compost tea brewing system.
Meet us at 75 Battery Place for the first part of the tour, then we'll walk 15 minutes to the dog waste composting site.
This event is rain or shine. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear shoes you are comfortable walking in.
