Join us for a tour of La Plaza Cultural's community composting site that features multi-bin systems, compost tumblers, and an electric sifter. Learn about the garden's history of composting in the Lower East Side and their clever methods of collecting and composting food scraps and garden trimmings. Can't make this time? Accessibility notes: Event hosts will use voice amplifiers. Pathways are wide but unpaved and wood chipped; there is a slight incline moving into the compost site. Compost site is small and compact. There are no bathrooms on-site, however participants may use Tompkins Square Park or the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Spaces (neither are wheelchair accessible).
