Want to join us on a tour of the industrial-scale compost site located on Staten Island? Join the waitlist and we will contact you if there is a spot available for you! If you cannot make it this time join the waitlist anyway so we can gauge interest for future field trips!
The Staten Island Compost Facility (SICF), located in the long-closed Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island (NY), is owned by the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) and operated by WeCare Denali, a subsidiary of Denali Water Solutions. When their new ASP system is up and running, they will be able to accept up to 600 tons of food scraps per week. This area is not open to the public so this is an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the site!
Please note: you are responsible for your own transportation to the site, we will attempt to facilitate ride shares via the registration questions but it is not guaranteed.
Event led by The NYC Department of Sanitation.
PLEASE NOTE: Joining the waitlist does NOT guarantee a spot on this field trip. We will reach out to you if there is a spot available for you and will ask you to confirm you are able to attend. Failure to confirm within 2 days of inquiry will result in your spot being given to someone else.
Confirmation is required for participation in this event. Please make sure to use the same name and email for all Master Composter Certificate Course events.
